Dogs are typically docked by a veterinarian or a trained professional using a procedure called docking. This involves the surgical removal of a portion of the dog's tail, usually done when the dog is just a few days old. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia to minimize pain and discomfort for the dog. After the tail is removed, the area is carefully stitched and the dog is monitored for any signs of complications during the healing process. It's important to note that docking is a controversial practice and is banned or restricted in some countries. **
